Zoo Fun!

For the past two weeks, we have been talking about animals that we see at the zoo.  The students looked at maps of the zoo, made lists of animals they may see there, and discussed what zookeepers do.  We learned about letters Zz and Ll and we talked about measurement.  We discussed which animals at the zoo are tall and which are short; and also which are heavy and which are light.

During the last two weeks, we have been on two field trips.  First, we visited the Children's Theater and saw Sleeping Beauty.  The students enjoyed the play and the bus ride.  We were able to use prior knowledge from our Fairy Tale unit to discuss the story elements that are unique to Fairy Tales.
Second, we visited the Little Rock Zoo.  We had so much fun! The students saw many of the animals we have been talking about and they were able to see the zookeepers cleaning and feeding the animals. Because the weather was cool and it was early, many of the animals were out playing and eating.

Overall, it has been two weeks of fun learning experiences! We have been busy wrapping up the school year and enjoying our last few weeks together.  Below are some pictures from the past couple of weeks!
