Winter/Snow

We had a great first week back from Christmas break! We were all very excited to see the kids and hear all about the break!

This week, we learned all about Winter (and even had winter weather to help us learn!). We learned about the letter Ss for snow.  We discussed what happens when water freezes, including comparing liquid to solid. The kids were even able to play in ice!

They were able to explore with the ice using salt, eyedroppers, and food coloring. The kids loved watching the ice melt and seeing the colors mix together!

 We made Snowmen using our names.

The kids made snowflakes out of play doh.

The kids each decorated a set of mittens and laced them together.

We read the story The Mitten. The students then participated in a Reader's Theater, where they retold the story of The Mitten as a class. Each student was assigned a character to play. They were then able to dress up as that character in order to retell the story.

The children wrote a journal entry titled Winter is a time for...

The weather was very cold this week, so we had to find creative ways to get out our energy :)
We went to the gym to play animal freeze tag during "indoor recess."

The kids got to do one of their favorite things- dance to the Tooty Ta!
