It is almost Christmas and the school is filling with Christmas Spirit and fun artwork! We began the Holiday Season by talking about Gingerbread and preparing for Christmas!
We read books about Gingerbread Boys, Girls, Babies, and Friends! While reading these books, each class compared and contrasted the stories, discussing what was similar and different about each one.
The students even made their own Gingerbread Boy/Girl and created a story about them, which was depicted in a journal entry.
We also began preparing our classrooms and hallways for Christmas this week.
The students painted and decorated a Christmas Tree.
We made Advent Chains. The students had to count the right number of chains and add each chain on by hand. The Advent Chains were then sent home so that each family has a countdown to Christmas!
During Centers, the students were able to build Gingerbread Houses out of blocks, play in Ginger Flour, play in the "Bakery," and make Playdoh cookies.
We hope that you enjoyed your long, cold weekend in the snow/ice!
We are excited to see all of you at our Christmas Program this week!! The kids have been working hard on their Christmas songs!
